Designer Lirany Vasquez grew up aspiring to be a fashion journalist. After graduating from the University of Maryland with a degree in English, she began writing for magazines in Washington D.C. and Los Angeles. Although Lirany loved writing, she decided she wanted to pursue jewelry design instead.
The career switch landed her in New York City. There, she began apprenticing at one of the country’s top jewelry companies learning every aspect of the business. After a short time she decided to further pursue her passion on her own, and designed a small collection of earrings and necklaces for a friend’s boutique. The collection was a success and Pretty Little Thing was born. Within a year the line was picked up by boutiques in NYC, Los Angeles, and abroad, and was also recognized by the press.
Lirany uses elements like glass, wood, metal and semiprecious stones to create styles that are classic, fun, and on-trend. The line has been been featured in Nylon, InStyle, Lucky, Teen Vogue and The New York Times among other notable publications; and seen on Gossip Girl, Entourage, and MTV.
Pretty Little Thing is New York City based and very much inspired by the city itself.
